Cricket's Kitchen: A Family Food Truck Built on Love and Memory

Tucked along Hwy 9 N in Sunny View, across from Red Mountain Hardware, there's a food truck doing something simple but increasingly rare — cooking everything to order, from scratch, the way family does.

It's called Cricket's Kitchen, and it's named after a grandmother.

Owner Caitlyn Crissone grew up cooking alongside her family, and when it came time to name her own venture, there was only one name that fit: Cricket, her beloved grandmother. "Food makes people happy," Caitlyn says. "I just love to cook for people."

That sense of family runs deeper than the name. Caitlyn runs the business with her sisters Addison and Laney — and the three of them happen to be the first reported set of triplets born in Polk County. Their parents pitch in too, keeping the truck running and the kitchen full of the kind of chaos that only comes from people who genuinely like working alongside each other.

What's on the menu

Cricket's Kitchen serves up classic southern comfort food: cheeseburgers, Philly cheese steaks, chicken tenders, chicken wraps, golden fries, and homemade desserts like vanilla pound cake. Every meal comes with a side and a drink — simple, filling, and reasonably priced.

And don't expect anything rushed. "We are not a fast food restaurant; we cook everything to order," Caitlyn says. "We do our best to get it out as quickly as possible, but the quality of the food is our priority."

When to visit

Cricket's Kitchen is open for lunch from 11am to 2pm, with a special Thursday evening service from 4:30 to 6:30pm — perfect for grabbing supper without the cook-and-clean-up routine.

A truck with room to grow

Caitlyn already has her sights set on expanding. "People love it and want us to grow," she says. "We are grateful for the support, and we want to keep my grandmother's memory alive through the food we serve."

If you're in the Mill Spring or Green Creek area and haven't stopped by yet, Cricket's Kitchen is worth the detour — not just for the food, but for the reminder that some of the best businesses around here are still built one family recipe at a time.
